Cookies and local storage
Last updated: November 6, 2026
This notice explains the cookies and browser storage used by Wildomi. Contact us through our Help Center with any questions. Our privacy policy explains how related personal information is used.
Technologies used
Cookies are small values sent with relevant website requests. Local storage stays in your browser and is read by the site's code. Their legal treatment depends on what they do, not what they are called.
| Name | Technology / provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
wildomi_session | First-party cookie | Identifies a signed-in session. The cookie is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and uses Secure in production. The corresponding server token is hashed. | Seven days; logout invalidates the session and account deletion invalidates associated sessions. |
wildomi_auth_flow | First-party cookie | Holds an opaque reference to an email confirmation or password recovery step. The browser value is hashed on our server, and the pending action token is encrypted. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, Secure in production. Opening the email link alone does not complete the action. | 15 minutes; removed when the action succeeds. |
wildomi_guest_checkout | First-party cookie | Provides access to orders started as a guest in this browser, including return from Stripe and saving a paid order to an account. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, Secure in production; only its hash is stored on our server. | 30 days from creation; clearing it removes this browser’s guest-order access but does not cancel or delete the order. |
wildomi_lang | First-party cookie | Remembers the language you read Wildomi in (English, Spanish, German, French or Italian), so messages from our server use the same language. Set when you open a page in a language or choose one. SameSite=Lax, Secure in production. Contains no personal data. | One year, or until you choose another language or clear browser site data. |
wildomi.lang | First-party local storage | Remembers the same language choice in this browser so a later visit opens in it. | Until you choose another language or clear browser site data. |
wildomi.cart.v1 | First-party local storage | Remembers the animals in your selection as product identifiers. It does not store checkout contact details or gift messages. | Until you remove them or clear browser storage; no automatic expiry. |
wildomi.cleared-orders.v1 | First-party local storage | Remembers up to 50 opaque paid-order references so opening the same payment return again does not clear a newer selection. Contains no contact details or gift messages. | Oldest references are removed beyond 50; otherwise until cleared in browser site-data controls. |
wildomi.app.animal | First-party local storage | Remembers the public catalog animal selected in the companion app. | Until changed or cleared in browser site-data controls. |
wildomi.app.saved.v1 | First-party local storage | Remembers identifiers of public animal photographs you save in the app. It contains no account details. | Until unsaved in the app or cleared in browser site-data controls. |
wildomi-public-v2 | First-party service worker Cache Storage | Stores public website resources, including scripts, styles, images, fonts and map files, to support the mobile web app and its reconnect screen. No API responses, account pages, orders or reviews are cached. | Until cleared by browser site-data controls, storage eviction or a cache-version update; no fixed automatic expiry. |
wildomi-satellite-tiles-v1 | First-party Cache Storage | Keeps copies of public ESA WorldCover satellite map tiles you have viewed, so satellite views load faster next time. It holds map images only, at most 1,000 tiles or 128 MB, with the oldest removed first. NASA imagery is kept only in page memory. | Until cleared by browser site-data controls or storage eviction; no fixed automatic expiry. |
These technologies support functions you request, rather than advertising. Necessary storage does not require optional marketing consent under the applicable rules. We update this notice if the technologies used change.
Product analytics preferences
Cookie preferences offers a separate choice for PostHog product analytics. You can accept analytics without Meta advertising, accept both, or reject optional measurement. An earlier Meta-only choice does not enable PostHog. The first-party local-storage setting wildomi.product-analytics-consent.v1 records the analytics choice and its date. We honor it for up to 180 days; it remains until replaced or cleared. Closing the panel or continuing to browse does not grant permission. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track keep optional measurement off.
| Name | Technology / provider | Purpose | Duration and removal |
|---|---|---|---|
wildomi_product_analytics | First-party cookie, used by Wildomi's analytics relay | An opaque reference to a separately consented analytics browser. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure in production; our database stores its hash. PostHog receives a separate random identifier, not this cookie. | 180 days from the grant; removed on withdrawal. Identity changes on sign-out or account changes prevent different people sharing a browser from being joined. |
After an analytics grant, selected events pass through our server. We do not load the PostHog browser SDK or enable session recordings, automatic form capture or IP-based location enrichment. Refusing analytics does not prevent adopting or account access. Withdrawal cancels pending analytics delivery when it reaches our server; it does not delete historical information already received by our PostHog analytics server. See the product-analytics section of our privacy policy for the fields, provider, US processing and privacy-request options.
Advertising preferences
The Cookie preferences control lets you accept or reject optional Meta advertising measurement. The setting wildomi.marketing-consent.v1 records your choice and its date in first-party local storage. We honor the choice for up to 180 days; the record remains until it is replaced or cleared in your browser. After 180 days, we ask again before activating measurement. Closing the preference panel does not grant consent. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals keep measurement off. Rejecting or withdrawing clears accessible _fbp and _fbc Meta cookies and prevents further Wildomi measurement events; clearing a browser cookie does not delete information already received by Meta.
With your permission, Wildomi uses the Meta Pixel and server-side Purchase events to measure selected website interactions and confirmed purchases and the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertising. The provider is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Block J, Serpentine Avenue, Dublin 4, Ireland. The Pixel is not loaded before you accept advertising measurement. Refusing does not prevent you from adopting or using an account.
| Name | Technology / provider | Purpose | Duration and removal |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | First-party cookie set by the Meta Pixel | Identifies a browser for advertising measurement. | Meta lists a 90-day lifetime; browser restrictions, deletion or our accessible-cookie cleanup on withdrawal may shorten it. See Meta’s cookie table. |
_fbc | First-party cookie set by the Meta Pixel when an eligible advertising click is present | Connects a Facebook advertising click to subsequent measured actions. | Meta lists a 90-day lifetime; browser restrictions, deletion or our accessible-cookie cleanup on withdrawal may shorten it. See Meta’s cookie table. |
Browser restrictions can limit these cookies. Expiry of a browser cookie is different from retention of information already received by Meta. Meta's Business Tools Terms, effective 3 November 2025, provide a maximum of two years for Event Data. See Meta's Cookies Policy and Privacy Policy.
Withdrawal revokes Pixel consent, removes its script element and stops Wildomi's explicit measurement events. Withdrawal also asks our server to remove queued Purchase measurement and the permission on pending checkout records associated with your signed-in account or this browser’s guest checkout. Events already sent cannot be recalled through cookie controls. Code that already ran may remain in the current page until you refresh or close it; we do not force a refresh that would erase an unfinished gift message or form. Private routes revoke Pixel consent and suppress Wildomi's explicit events; the Pixel is not first loaded on those routes.
Analytics, advertising and external requests
Optional PostHog analytics and Meta advertising measurement begin only after their respective choices. Scrolling, closing the panel or continuing to browse does not grant consent. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to withdraw at any time. Analytics and advertising consent are separate from the storage needed to remember the choices.
Fonts are hosted with the website. Loading them does not make a request to Google Fonts. Journey maps and satellite views load public satellite imagery directly from NASA's Global Imagery Browse Services and the Terrascope service (ESA WorldCover). These requests disclose your IP address and standard request information to those services but do not set Wildomi cookies or include account details. The site does not load the Meta Pixel before advertising consent. Permitted Pixel requests can disclose network and browser information, public page URLs, eligible advertising click identifiers and the selected event data described in our privacy policy. If you follow an external link, the destination operates under its own privacy practices. Any future external resource must be assessed separately: it may disclose network information even if it does not set a cookie.
Stripe payment page
Continuing to an available checkout opens Stripe’s hosted payment page. Stripe uses its own technologies to process the payment and prevent fraud. Wildomi does not store payment card details in browser storage. See Stripe’s privacy policy and cookie policy for its processing and available controls.
Your controls
You can clear cookies or site storage in your browser. Clearing the session cookie signs you out; clearing the guest-checkout cookie removes this browser’s access to unclaimed guest orders, so contact support if you need to recover one; clearing local storage removes your selection, the chosen companion animal and saved photograph references. Saved photographs are local to this browser and are not synchronized with an account. Blocking necessary storage may prevent these features from working, but does not require you to accept optional tracking. Browser storage deletion does not delete server-side account, support or order records; use the privacy-request options for those.
Installing Wildomi adds a shortcut or a standalone web-app window where your browser supports it. It does not subscribe you to push notifications or grant access to your location, camera or contacts. An internet connection is required for accounts, updates, reviews and checkout; actions are not queued for later while offline.
No consent button authorizes a future payment, newsletter registration or a waiver of consumer rights. Those choices are handled separately.
