Terms and conditions

Last updated: November 3, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use the Wildomi website and when you adopt animals from Wildomi ("Wildomi", "we", "us"). You can reach us at any time through our Help Center.

Your contract with us is made up of these terms, the order details shown before you pay and your order confirmation. Our refunds and withdrawal policy explains refunds and, for customers in the EU, the right of withdrawal. Our annual adoption and renewal terms explain the 12-month term and manual renewal. Our privacy policy explains how we use personal information. Accepting these terms does not opt you in to marketing or optional tracking.

2. What a Wildomi adoption is

A Wildomi adoption is a symbolic, digital adoption of one or more animals from the destinations shown on our website. It lasts 12 months. It does not give you ownership or custody of an animal, an exclusive sponsorship, naming rights in the wild, or a right to visit, handle or direct the care of any animal.

Each animal is introduced through a story character, such as Mali the Asian elephant from Thailand. Character names are editorial: they introduce the species and the place, and they do not identify one tagged individual. Other members can adopt the same character. Photographs, illustrations and films on our website show the species and the destination. Many are illustrations, and some are AI-generated; they are not proof of a particular individual animal.

Wildomi adoptions are digital only. Nothing is shipped, and there are no physical goods, delivery charges or customs fees.

3. What every adoption includes

For each animal you adopt, your 12 months include:

  • Real-life videos of the species in the wild, credited to their source and shared through the year.
  • Journey tracking on a map (see section 4).
  • Field notes: short notes and facts about your animal and its destination.
  • A monthly update about the animal and its destination.
  • Your name on our thank-you plaque at the destination (see section 6).
  • A digital adoption certificate you can download, print and share.
  • A gift option with a personal message and one-link activation for the recipient (see section 7).

Your member area also shows every monthly update published since January 1 of the current year, including updates dated before your purchase, and the full movement history since January 1.

Only the benefits listed in the offer you accepted are part of your purchase.

4. Journey tracking and monthly updates

Journeys are shown as live. Positions appear as soon as they reach us, except for protected species. To protect animals from poachers and wildlife traffickers, positions for some species are shown 24 or 72 hours late. Our How tracking works page lists which species are delayed and by how long.

While we connect data feeds from field partners, the journeys, positions and monthly updates you see are illustrative. They are plausible routes and stories based on the species' known range, season and behavior at the destination; they are not readings from a tag worn by one animal. That page explains this and will be updated when partner data replaces illustrative data.

Animals move, tags fail and field data can arrive late or stop. Locations may be delayed or generalized to keep animals safe. These limits do not remove our responsibility to provide the service described in your order; section 11 explains what happens when a feature becomes unavailable. Do not use any location information from Wildomi to find, follow, disturb or harm animals.

5. Prices and bundles

Prices are in US dollars and cover 12 months. The first animal costs $19.99. Each additional animal in the same order costs less:

Animal in your orderPrice for that animal
1st$19.99
2nd$16
3rd$14
4th$12
5th$10
6th to 10th$8 each
11th to 15th$6 each
16th to 29th$4 each
30th, completing the full collection$2

For example, 2 animals cost $35.99, 3 cost $49.99, 4 cost $61.99, 10 cost $111.99, and all 30 cost $199.99. Animals you add later, while earlier adoptions are still active, continue down the same price ladder. For example, with 3 active animals your 4th costs $12. Each order has its own 12-month term.

We may show a monthly equivalent (the 12-month price divided by 12, rounded) and the percentage you save compared with paying $19.99 per animal. These are comparisons only. You pay the full 12-month amount once, at checkout. Any sales tax or other unavoidable charge is shown before you pay.

Your own tracked animal

Your own tracked animal is a premium upgrade for one animal in your order. It costs $79.99 a year, paid once at checkout. We may show it as $6.67/mo, which is $79.99 divided by 12 and rounded; you are not charged monthly. Its price is fixed and sits outside the price ladder: it is not discounted and does not change the price of the other animals in your order. It lasts 12 months from payment confirmation and does not renew automatically.

  • What it includes: everything in an adoption, plus a pairing with one real, individually tagged animal of that species at the destination, and that individual's own position and movement history from its tag. Positions for protected species are still shown 24 or 72 hours late. Your individual may have a different name from our story character.
  • Availability: we pair you with an individually tagged animal at the destination, subject to availability. We offer the upgrade only for animals where a tagged individual is available, and we say so before you pay. If we cannot pair you after you have paid, we refund the full $79.99. If you prefer, you can keep a standard adoption of that animal instead, and we refund the upgrade portion described below.
  • Pairing: the pairing is not exclusive unless the offer says otherwise, so other members may follow the same individual. It gives you no ownership of, or say in the care or study of, the animal.
  • If your individual dies, loses its tag or stops transmitting: wild animals face real risks, and tags fail or fall off. If your individual dies, its tag comes off or no new positions arrive for 30 days in a row, we tell you what we know as soon as we reasonably can. You can then choose either a replacement individual of the same species for the rest of your term, where one is available, or a pro-rata refund of the upgrade portion for the full months left. Your standard adoption of that animal continues until its end date either way. Short gaps of a few days, and the delay for protected species, are normal and do not count as stopped transmission.
  • Upgrade portion: $60.00, the difference between $79.99 and our $19.99 standard adoption price. A pro-rata refund is $60.00 divided by 12 for each full month left. For example, if your individual stops transmitting with 8 full months left, we refund $40.00.

These remedies do not replace your 14-day refund or any other rights described in our refunds and withdrawal policy.

6. The thank-you plaque

We add members' names to the Wildomi thank-you plaque at each destination they adopt from. A display name is optional. You can choose the name to show, such as your first name, your family name or the recipient of a gift, or you can stay anonymous. If you choose to stay anonymous or do not give a display name, we do not show a name for your adoption.

The plaque shows display names only. It never shows email addresses, order details or where you live. Names are added in batches, so yours may appear some time after your purchase. We may decline or shorten a display name that is offensive, impersonates someone, contains personal contact details or does not fit the plaque. The plaque is a thank-you and does not give you any right in a place or an animal.

7. Gifts

You can buy an adoption as a gift and add a personal message. After payment you receive a gift link to share with the recipient. The recipient opens the link, signs in or creates a free account and activates the gift with one step. They do not pay anything and are not enrolled in billing or marketing.

A gift link can be activated once. Anyone who has the link can activate it, so share it only with the person you are giving it to. The 12-month term starts when your payment is confirmed, not when the gift is activated. If a gift is for a child, a parent or guardian should activate it in their own account.

8. Your certificate

Each adoption includes a personalized digital certificate. It is a keepsake. It is not a legal document and does not confirm ownership of, or a right in, an animal. It is available as soon as your payment is confirmed; our refunds and withdrawal policy explains how this affects the right of withdrawal for the certificate.

9. Orders and payment

An order is formed when we send an order confirmation after your payment is confirmed. If checkout is unavailable, no order is created and nothing is charged. If we make an error in price or availability, we will explain it and ask whether you want to continue; we will not charge a higher price without your agreement.

We confirm your order, the animals you chose, the total paid and the term dates in a form you can keep, such as an email or a downloadable receipt.

10. Term, renewal and refunds

Each adoption lasts 12 months from payment confirmation. It does not renew automatically. To continue for another year, you choose a new adoption and approve its payment. If you do nothing, your adoption ends on its end date and you are not charged again.

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase. Our refunds and withdrawal policy has the details.

11. If something is not right

The service must match the description in your order. If an included feature is unavailable for a meaningful part of your term, tell us through the Help Center. Depending on the problem and the law that applies to you, we will fix it, provide it later, offer a partial refund or let you end the affected adoption with a refund. We will not replace your animal with a different one without your agreement.

12. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract to buy an adoption or create an account. Adults can buy gifts for children and supervise their use. Do not create an account in a child's name.

Give accurate information, keep your sign-in details private and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. Do not use another person's account, interfere with the security of the website or submit unlawful content.

13. Demo account

Our demo account shows the member area with sample adoptions. It runs in your browser, needs no sign-in and does not create an account or an order. Its content is sample content.

14. Conservation and donations

An adoption is a purchase from Wildomi. It is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible. Wildomi commits 20% of its profits to protecting wildlife at its destinations. This is calculated on Wildomi's profit, not on the price of your adoption, and it is a commitment by Wildomi rather than a donation made by you. We do not claim that an adoption guarantees a particular conservation outcome.

15. Content, reviews and fair use

You may use your certificate, videos and updates for personal, non-commercial purposes, including sharing a gift with its recipient. Copyright and other rights stay with their owners. Credited third-party videos remain available under the license shown with each video. Nothing in these terms limits lawful quotation or other legal exceptions.

If you write a gift message, display name or support request, you keep your rights in it and give us only the permission we need to store and use it for the service you asked for. We do not use a private message in advertising.

If customer reviews are available, a review requires a signed-in account with a paid order, and one review can be published per order. We show your first name, rating, text and publication date. A verified-purchase label means we checked the order record; it is not an endorsement. Positive and negative reviews follow the same rules. You can remove your review while signed in.

16. Community posts

Every animal has a community board where signed-in members can open topics and comment. Anyone can read approved posts. When you post, follow our community guidelines.

Your posts and our permission to show them. You keep ownership of what you write. You give Wildomi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, format and display your posts on the Wildomi website and member area for as long as they are part of the community. Formatting includes showing your display name and turning links into plain text. This license ends when a post is deleted, except for copies we keep for a limited time in backups, moderation records or to meet a legal duty. We do not use your posts in advertising without asking you first.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for what you post. Post only content you have the right to share, and do not post anything illegal, anyone's personal information or the exact location of a protected animal. Posts are the views of the members who write them, not of Wildomi. We do not check the facts in posts, so do not rely on them for medical, veterinary, legal or safety decisions.

How we moderate. We do not review every post in advance, but we do review:

  • a member's first 2 posts, before they appear;
  • any post our automated filter holds because it contains a link, an email address, a phone number or profanity;
  • any post that 3 people report, which stays hidden until we review it.

Our moderators can approve a post, reject it, remove it later or block an account from the community. We block accounts for serious or repeated breaches of these terms or the community guidelines. A person makes every decision to reject, remove or block. Blocking affects only the community: it does not end your adoptions or your access to the member area.

Reasons and appeals. When we reject, remove or hide your post or block your account, we tell you what we did, which rule or law it was based on, and whether it followed a report or our automated filter. You can appeal within 6 months through the Help Center by choosing "Community post" as the topic. A person reviews every appeal, and we reverse decisions we got wrong.

Users in the EU. Anyone can tell us about content they believe is illegal, using the Report button or the Help Center. Please say where the content is and why you think it is illegal, and include your name and email address if you want to hear back. We handle these notices promptly and objectively, and if you gave contact details we tell you what we decided. When we act against your content or account, our statement of reasons includes the information above and whether automated tools were involved. Besides our internal appeal, you can turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or to the courts.

17. Changes and responsibility

We may restrict an account if it is reasonably necessary to deal with serious misuse, a security risk or a legal obligation. We will explain why and how to challenge the decision, unless that would compromise security or break the law.

Changes to these terms apply to future purchases. We do not remove benefits from an adoption you have already bought. If we change a continuing feature in a way that affects you more than slightly, we will tell you in advance and explain your right to end the adoption and receive a refund for the unused part where the law gives you that right.

We remain responsible as required by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your mandatory consumer rights.

18. Questions and complaints

Send questions and complaints through our Help Center. We will look into your complaint and explain our answer.

Nothing in these terms takes away the consumer protections of the place where you live. These terms do not require you to use arbitration or to bring a claim in a distant court. If you live in the EU, you can also contact your national consumer authority or, for cross-border issues, the European Consumer Centres Network. The former EU Online Dispute Resolution platform closed in July 2025 and is no longer a complaint channel.
